Q: How do I make a donation?
A: By making contact with our Executive Officer, Moira Lye.
Q: Will my donation be tax deductible?
A: Donations to the Our Wellness Gift Fund are 100% tax deductible.
However, gifts from that fund must be distributed to organisations with Deductible Gift Recipient status.
If you want to give to a wider range of charitable organisations without this status, make a gift to the Our Wellness Open Fund.
All earnings in both funds are exempt from tax.
Q: How do I apply for a grant?
A: It’s as simple as submitting an application addressing the criteria on this site.
Q: What are the grant criteria?
A: Click here for grant criteria.
Q: How do I know that my donation will benefit my intended cause?
A: Gifts made to the Our Wellness Foundation Gift Fund will be given to an organisation with Deductible Gift Recipient status only.
Gifts made to the Our Wellness Foundation Open Fund will be distributed at the discretion of the board and according to the grant criteria.
Q: Can donors decide how their gift is used?
A: If establishing a named sub-fund, donors can identify their area of interest and then work with the Executive Officer to create the most effective way to meet their objectives.
Under a current Australian Taxation Office ruling on community foundations, the foundation's board in consultation with the trustee has final discretion on grants, after considering the requests of the donor or the donor's advisory committee.
Q: Will my donation be paying for services that should be provided by Government?
A: The board will seek to identify causes and objects for funding that provide maximum benefit to our community and will not conflict with government funding programs.
Q: How can I be sure that my donation is managed prudently?
A: Your donation will be managed and invested by the Public Trustee for the Australian Capital Territory.
The trustee ensures the trust is managed according to appropriate statutory, legal and accounting requirements.
The Public Trustee is an independent, professional, perpetual entity that operates as a statutory entity of the ACT Government.
The Public Trustee is subject to a rigorous set of governance principles and is audited by the Australian Capital Territory Auditor-General.
